We are the second largest county in Mississippi, featuring over 810 square miles of land and more than 8 square miles of water. Currently approximately 57,261 people now call Pearl River County home. We are one of the fastest growing counties in Mississippi with a 2% annual increase.

We boast about our climate with an average of 218 sunny days per annum and an average snowfall of ZERO inches. The average temperature in January is a brisk 40 degrees and July is just right for swimming and other water sports at 92 degrees, so there is always something to do in Pearl River County. For sporting enthusiasts there is year-round swimming with indoor and outdoor pools, creeks with white sandy beaches, public and private 18-hole golf courses, driving ranges, tennis, soccer, bowling, walking tacks and plenty of fitness centers. There are clubs for almost every group: knitting, weaving, singing, quilting, and men’s and women’s golf clubs. We even have a Newcomer’s Club to get our newest residents off to a good start! Children’s sporting groups are offered for all ages in T-Ball, baseball, football, tennis, softball, soccer, golf, swimming, cheerleading and dance.

If you like gardening or want to learn about it, we have The Crosby Arboretum, featuring over 64 acres of gardens and walking trails. They offer classes and fun family events year-round. We value our education! Pearl River Community College was this state’s 1st Community College with current enrollment of about 5,700. We have 3 public high schools within 3 separate school districts as well as several private and church sponsored elementary schools.

We also have our own radio station, 2 newspapers, several on-line blogs, and two libraries. And in keeping with our reputation as being the most philanthropic state, we have a volunteer group for everyone!

Our County is not without spirit! We have many public events such as the annual Blues-Out, annual Blueberry Festival, BBQ competitions, Chili cook-off, street fairs, antique car shows, art exhibitions, and craft shows. We celebrate Mardi Gras with the Krewe of Pearl’s annual Masked Ball and Parade. We also celebrate Christmas all across the County with street parades and two parades of homes on tour, Santa’s Workshop, Christmas on Tour with Jolly Jubilee, Shop By Candlelight, and Christmas on the Rails.
